Hey everybody!
So, as some of you may know, I like to dabble in these things called "contests." Even when my odds are left to fate, I've been fairly lucky, but this time, I need as much help as I can get. I'm currently a finalist to win a trip to Belgium (I KNOW!) Basically, to explain the premise of the contest, this blog came across a very old picture of a young girl who emigrated to the USA in 1905. Her identity is unknown, and the blog has been going through great lengths to figure out who she is and her life once she arrived in America from Belgium. As a finalist in this contest, I was asked to write an essay about what happened to her once she reached American soil. The winner of the contest is determined by whose essay receives the most votes. So I'm asking y'all-- PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE-- to vote for me.
It's super easy, and it'll take less than 30 seconds! All you have to do is "like" The Red Star Line Museum on Facebook and vote for my essay here (if I've fumbled the links, just click on the "Do You Know This Girl?" Vote Now link on the left-hand side. I want to make sure that everyone who votes, and everyone who gets a bunch of their Facebook friends to vote will be handsomely rewarded. You've got until August 19th at noon to vote, so please get to votin'!
THANK YOU!!!

Fashion Week!
Ladies and gentlemen, if there's any solace in this miserable, tundra-esque New York winter it's that the joy of Fashion Week is just around the corner! I don't know why fall fashion excites me the most, but Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is one of my favorite times of the year. Maybe because it reminds me of spring, or the prospect of new and beautiful things being created during the bitterest of seasons. Seriously, everyone, stop what you're doing and get thee to Grease and Glamour's website for a chance to check out the Allegri show February 15th. How many awesome chances does one get to see awesomeness in the making? Plus, you can act out Lady Gaga's Paparazzi (in your mind) as the photographers at the show inevitably create a storm of lights around this totally buzzworthy event. And you even get to sit next to fabulous fashion blogger herself Jinna Boo (twitter.com/jinnaboo) as she guides you through the wilds of the fashion safari. It's a heck of an opportunity! Go check it out, NOW!!!!
